CLIENT CHALLENGE FOR TRENDSET
The majority of this manufacturer’s products flow Internationally to their assembly points via Air Express carriers. Because of the strict assembly scheduling time constraints, the shipments needed to arrive on time (if not early) to their various assembly points. Manufacturing and assembly for this manufacturer is time critical and they came to Trendset needing a solution to help them identify any delivery problems, as they currently existed.

To accomplish this, the manufacturer needed their Air Express carriers to scan each movement of each shipment through their system from the manufacturing points to the warehouse at the airport ramp to the loading dock at the final destination.

TRENDSET SOLUTION
To begin, Trendset received all of the scan updates of all shipment status reports from the carrier. A custom application was developed that broke apart the data into various data trunks for classification and analysis.

The custom Trendset application introduced the “real time” concept of actual local delivery times the shipmeant arrived at different stages of delivery to the final destination. This extensive concept called for a comprehensive blocking of all international time zones and date lines. This could represent the actual time that a shipment was sitting on an airport ramp waiting to be loaded for the final shipment leg.

All of this data is analyzed and reported to the manufacturer in a database report of a real-time look at the products as they moved through the carrier’s shipment system.

This allows the manufacturer to identify and repair any problems or breakdowns in the shipment process prior to costing them precious time and money. This custom Trendset application has resulted in a five-figure savings each week to this manufacturer.
